ACS qualifications must be renewed every five years to ensure gas engineers can continue working safely, legally and remain on the gas safe register. Core Gas Safety offer gas engineers the opportunity to renew their ACS qualifications in relaxed flexible environment.

Engineers can renew the following with us:

·  CCN1 (Gas Core Safety)

·  CENWAT (Boiler/Water Heaters)

·  HTR1 (Heaters)

·  CKR1 (Cookers)

·  MET (Meters)

Core Gas Safety (CCN1) includes CPA1

The course offers full training and updating of knowledge and practical skills identified in the current approved Codes of Practice. The training also provides the operative with the necessary preparation and revision for CCN1 assessment. CCN1 covers:

·  Gas Safety Legislation

·  Gas emergency actions and procedures

·  Characteristics of combustion

·  Ventilation

·  Installation of pipework and fittings

·  Testing for tightness

·  Checking and/or setting meter regulators

·  Identification of unsafe situations and use of emergency notices and warning labels

·  Operation of and positioning of emergency isolation controls and valves

·  Checking and setting appliance burner pressure and gas rates

·  Operation and checking of gas safety devices and controls

·  Flue standards

·  Flue testing

·  Installation of open, balanced and fan-assisted flue systems

·  Establishing existing gas supply and re-light appliances

CCN1 reassessment consists of self directed revision (details provided by Core Gas Safety on booking) and 2 days assessment in the gas centre.

 

Central Heating Boilers and Water Heaters (CENWAT1)

The course offers comprehensive training, updating of knowledge and practical skills identified in the approved codes of practice. The training also provides the operative with the necessary preparation and revision for CENWAT1 assessment.

Candidates must hold CCN1 to be eligible to undertake CENWAT1 training and assessment.

Training and assessments consist of:

• Installation 

• Servicing 

• Fault finding 

• Practical

Complete of this course will allow an operative to install, service and maintain domestic gas fired central heating boilers/hot water circulators and domestic gas fired instantaneous water heaters.

CENWAT consists of 1/2-day training and 1/2-day assessment.

 

Gas Cookers (CKR1)

The CKR1 course offers comprehensive training, updating of knowledge and practical skills identified in the current approved codes of practice. The training also provides the operative with the necessary preparation and revision for CKR1 assessment.

Candidates must hold CCN1 to be eligible to undertake CKR1 training and assessment.

Training and assessments consist of:

• Installation

• Servicing  

• Fault finding

Completion of this course will allow the operative to install, service and maintain gas fired cookers.

CKR1 consists of 1/2-day training and 1/2-day assessment.

 

Gas Fires and Wall Heaters (HTR1)

The HTR1 course offers comprehensive training, updating of knowledge and practical skills identified in the current approved codes of practice. The training also provides the operative with the necessary preparation and revision for HTR1 assessment.   

Candidates must hold CCN1 to be eligible to undertake HTR1 training and assessment.

Training and assessments consist of:

• Installation

• Servicing 

• Installation 

• Fault finding

Completion of this course allows the operative to install and maintain domestic gas fired space heaters, including gas fires and wall heaters.

HTR1 consists of 1/2-day training and 1/2-day assessment.

 

Meters (MET1)

The MET1 course offers comprehensive training and updating of knowledge and practical skills identified in the current approved codes of practice. The training also provides the operative with the necessary preparation and revision for MET1 assessment.

Candidates must hold CCN1 to be eligible to undertake MET1 training and assessment.

Completion of this course allows the operative to install, exchange and disconnect domestic gas meters.

MET1 consists of 1/2-day training and 1/2-day assessment.

Entry requirements

To be eligible for ACS renewal, your ACS qualifications must have expired within the last 12 months or be due to expire. You can take your reassessment at an accredited centre up to 6 months before expiry however if you have expired over 12 months ago you will need to resit your Initial Assessment again.
